Why Braise? The Story Behind Our First Fragrance
A fragrance that does not call across a room, but fills it. Why we are starting with a single composition – and what shadow and embers have to do with it.
There are fragrances you wear, and fragrances that keep you company. The difference is quiet, but decisive. When we made the first sketches for Ombre & Feu more than a year ago, it was never about “one more perfume”. It was about an attitude: presence without volume. Warmth without sweetness. A fragrance that does not call across a room, but fills it.
Shadow and embers
The name says it all. Ombre – the shadow, the restrained, the unhurried. Feu – the fire, the embers, the energy beneath. Braise, our first fragrance, lives in exactly that tension: sweet-woody at its core, warm on the skin, with a smoky depth that only reveals itself over time. It is not a fragrance for the first five minutes. It is a fragrance for a whole evening.

Why only one fragrance?
Because focus is quality. Instead of bringing a collection to market, we concentrated on a single composition – and reworked it until every facet was right. Braise #1 is the result of many iterations, many evenings and many honest opinions from people who love fragrance but have no patience for the interchangeable.
That clarity runs through everything we do: the plain bottle, the pared-back design, the decision to produce in Germany and to leave out anything unnecessary. Less, but done properly.
How Braise develops
An eau de parfum tells itself in stages. At the beginning, Braise is bright and inviting – a first moment that makes you curious. After a while the heart opens up: warmer, woodier, with the sweetness that makes the fragrance unmistakable. And then the base remains – deep, smoky, calm. That is what people remember long after you have left the room.
We recommend two or three sprays on the neck and wrists. No more. Braise does not need reinforcement, it needs time.
It begins on 1 November
Braise is released on 1 November 2026 at 9 pm. The first edition is deliberately small. Anyone who signs up by email on the home page will hear about it first – and secure access before everyone else does.
In future, this journal will be the place where we speak openly about our work: about ingredients and decisions, about mistakes and progress, about what makes a fragrance. Not often, but always honestly.
